The NCS Team
After a 27-year U.S. Air Force military career, JR Swartz founded Northern Computer Service in 2006. Steadily increasing its service offerings, NCS opened its first store location in 2009.
In 2013 Bella Designs merged with NCS to significantly increase our web site development and graphic design services.
NCS has quickly grown to be the largest computer service provider in the northwoods.
NCS has hand-selected a quality staff of exceptionally skilled and talented employees. Each employee is uniquely skilled, trained or educated in specific technical areas to provide our customers with the absolute best service.
Mr. Swartz has more than 30 years of hands-on computer engineering experience in secure computing environments for the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC).
In 1992, supporting the Air Force’s Electronic Security Command’s Space & Advanced Programs offices, Mr Swartz was the lead and founding engineer in a World Wide Network (WAN) implementation of highly-secure computing technology allowing the various Intelligence Agencies to communicate and share critical intelligence data, a very first of it’s kind. Called Trusted Network Environment (TNE), this suite of extremely secure software products allows users with various government security clearances to securely share information across the globe.
In 1994, working directly with both Sun Microsystems and Digital Equipment Corporation (DIGITAL), Mr. Swartz was one of the first engineers to integrate Oracle’s trusted database on Compartmented Mode Workstations (CMW) in a National Security Agency (NSA) certified configuration.
In 2001, Mr. Swartz was solely responsible for landing a $1M computer design contract with The Boeing Company to place the Trusted Network Environment (TNE) technology aboard the Presidential Command Post (E4B).
In 2004, Mr. Swartz was hired by Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. (now Raytheon) and led the trusted application development laboratory in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Swartz directed his team of highly-skilled secure systems engineers in the design, development, and deployment of several complex Secure Linux (SELinux) commercial cross-domain software products supporting the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy and other U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) organizations.
In 2009 Mr. Swartz was promoted to Regional Director, Professional Services at Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc. in support of expanded software development efforts and accepting additional responsibility in project and business growth.
